Grandma & Grandpa Voll come to visit

Grandma & Grandpa Voll (Chuck’s parents) came to visit at the end of August to celebrate Abby’s 1st Birthday with us.   It was nice to see them again. They haven’t been here since the week after Abby was born. We try to Skype with them every week or so and that has really helped Abby to recognize them and made a huge difference in her recognizing and warming up to them.  While they were here we went to dinner at a Brazilian restaurant nearby called Tucano’s. AWESOME FOOD. We also also spent some time at one of our new favorite stores, Toys R Us where Grandma & Grandpa bought Abby her first wagon, harness and fork, spoon, knife set. We really didn’t do to much else other than get ready for Abby’s party and hang out at home. Dad wasn’t feeling the greatest while they were here. Abby enjoyed (so did Gma & Gpa) lots of snuggles and the “Abby Show.”

Abby’s 1st Birthday Pictures

I would really like to know what happened to the last year! I took Abby for her 1st Birthday pictures on her birthday, just got them back  and they came out great!!!

Abby & her new Swingset!!

One of Abby’s birthday presents was a new swingset from Mamaw & Papaw Palmer. It was supposed to  be up by her birthday but Chuck had a pinched nerve in his back and had a really hard time doing any major lifting. Also, he needed help with the frame of the playhouse so a good friend came over a few weeks ago to help with it. Well Chuck finished it last night and Abby has had a ball playing on it! She absolutely LOVES swinging in her swing. She also LOVES going down the slide. We would put her  up at the top of the slide and help her go down and catch her, then after     a while she got the hang of going down herself and was all giggles and smiles when she did it on her own!

Tooth #6 & an ear infection

On Sept 4 Abby was really crabby, more so than normal. I thought I was gonna pull my hair out, bad! I had a babysitting interview that morning for a little girl who is 11 days older than her and she was just a cranky little monster! Well, I finally figured out that she had cut tooth #6 that day, one of her eye teeth. She was still cranky over the weekend (had been playing with her ear a little, but nothing consistent) and on Monday I was playing with her ears (tickling them) and managed to pull out 3 finger-tipped size balls of ear wax from it.  Tuesday afternoon I was still concerned so I called and got her in for an appointment with Dr Pellant. Abby has her 1st ear infection and I felt so bad for not actually catching it earlier. All signs really pointed to the tooth coming in and she wasn’t really tugging at her ear on any consistent basis. Anyways, I picked up her antibiotic and she was feeling better by the weekend!
